Our Team

The Village Clinic Ltd consists of a team of competent, committed and experienced employees. Allow us to introduce them to you on this page. All of our physiotherapists and podiatrists are registered with the HCPC which means that they are trained to degree standard, are highly regulated and have strict standards to follow (the NHS employs practitioners who are HCPC registered).
Directors
Sally Albutt (nee Cook), Podiatrist

Sally qualified as a podiatrist from The London Foot Hospital in 1991. After qualifying,  worked for the East Gloucestershire Trust. Sally ran clinics in the Cotswolds (in Bourton-on-the-water and Stow-on-the-Wold) and worked alongside GPs at the Glebe Farm Surgery in Hatherley.
Sally began to specialise in musculoskeletal problems alongside participating in nail surgery. Sally was a lead figure in the development of the Trust orthotics laboratory, training several technicians in the art of insole and orthotic manufacture.

    In 1995 Sally bought a part-time private practice based at Badhams Chemist in Bishops Cleeve and over the following years Sally developed her practice alongside her NHS role.  

    In 2001, Sally’s sister Lucy, a physiotherapist, joined her in the private practice and together they formed The Village Clinic. The practice became unique in the area offering both podiatry and physiotherapy under one roof. Due to this special partnership the practice has grown and now employs 4 physiotherapists, 6 podiatrists and 5 reception staff. Sally prides herself on offering quality care and advice to all her patients, whilst keeping abreast of the latest evidence-based practice. Sally’s special interests are: musculoskeletal foot problems, foot mobilisation techniques (FMT) and nail brace technique for non-surgical correction of ingrowing nails.

Lucy Donnelly (nee Cook), Physiotherapist

Lucy qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Birmingham in 1995 and then enjoyed working for the NHS at Cheltenham General Hospital, Tewkesbury Hospital and St Pauls Medical Centre. She specialised in musculoskeletal work from 1997 and has continued to enjoy helping patients to relieve their pain and get back to normal.

    Lucy and her sister Sally, a podiatrist, formed The Village Clinic in 2000 and it has gone from strength to strength. Lucy strives to ensure the clinic remains a valuable service to local residents.  Most of our patients come to us via recommendation, so we hope that we have achieved this.

Sally James, Podiatrist
Sally James, has nearly nearly two decades of experience as a podiatrist having first trained as a nurse back in 1999 and from there trained at Matthew Boulton School of Podiatry in Birmingham She then returned to her home county of Cheshire where she ran a successful podiatric multidisciplinary for nearly 10 years. Moving for her family, she worked for some years working in Gloucestershire, specialising in aesthetic podiatry and musculoskeletal problems, using cutting-edge technology.

Sally’s specialities include musculoskeletal issues and biomechanical challenges, and is an skilled prescriber of custom made orthotics. She is hoping to complete an MSc Biomechanics course over the next few years. She also enjoys all aspects of Podiatry work including nail surgery, verrucae treatments, diabetic care

Gwen Worthington, Podiatrist

Gwen trained and qualified at Matthew Boulton College in Birmingham before moving to Gloucestershire to work for the NHS. She has worked for over 40 years as a podiatrist and has been part of the team at the Village Clinic for more than 25 years.
Gwen enjoys working with patients of all age groups, providing treatment for corns, calluses and nail conditions.
Gwen’s interests include walking and cooking, especially baking cakes.
 Georgie Parnell (was Prior) , Podiatrist
Georgie qualified as a podiatrist from Southampton University School of Podiatry in 2006 and then worked within the NHS in South Wales, Gwent and specialised in  nail surgery and tissue viability.
Her current specialities are: nail surgery, swift microwave verruca treatment, biomechanics and insoles
Georgie has a great interest in sport and athletics and is a keen runner. Georgie joined our team in 2015, but unfortunately,due to family commitments, we lost her for a few years but were delighted when she was able to re join our team in  March 2021.

Jade Perry, Podiatrist

 Jade qualified from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2021 and has worked in private practice ever since, in Hereford and Worcester. At the start of 2023 she moved practices to join The Village Clinic to be working closer to home in Cheltenham.  Jade comes from a beauty background so your feet will be tip top and looking fabulous when you leave the clinic! 
Jades specialities are: Swift microwave Verrcua  treatment, ingrowing toe nail treatment ( including Onyfix treatment and nail surgery) , diabetic foot care, fungal nail treatments and can prescribe antibiotics. As Jade is the more recent qualified from our team, she comes armed with all the recent research, new treatment techniques and is certainly keeping us all on our toes

Jo Reece, Foot Health Practitioner

Jo is one of our receptionist who we hand picked to train as a Foot Health practitioner to join our Podiatry team. Jo qualified in June 2021 and has been working alongside the Podiatry team, assisting them in treating the more routine foot care patients, leaving them time to deal with more complex problems and specialist treatments

Jo can treat:

• Simple Nail care

 •Reducing thick/fungal nails

• Light hard skin and corns

• Footwear advice

• Lacuna technique (a treatment for fungal nails)

If you have straight forward foot care needs, having an

appointment with Jo will save you money, you’ll get a longer

treatment time, so that’s more TLC

Physiotherapists & Massage Therapists

Lynne Cawthorne, Physiotherapist

Lynne qualified as a physiotherapist from the Joint Services School of Physiotherapy at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire, in 1985. She gained experience in the first 4 years at The Royal Liverpool Teaching NHS hospital working through the various medical specialities. She then went to work in Cyprus at the RAF and army bases for 3 years, where she gained valuable experience in treating mainly Forces orthopaedic patients and working under deadlines to get them back on duty and onto the sports fields.
Karen Worsfold, Physiotherapist

Karen qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Brighton in 2003 and worked for Redditch NHS hospital and   Cheltenham General Hospital. Here, Karen gained further experience in a wide range of disciplines before specialising in musculoskeletal outpatients.
Karen has many years’ experience treating a wide range of acute, chronic and complex MSK disorders, and she also practices acupuncture.

    Karen also has specialist knowledge in the treatment of facial palsy, such as Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and Bell`s Palsy.

    Karen enjoys treating people of all ages and activity levels to help improve and enhance their quality of life and prevent future problems.

Isobel Evans, Physiotherapist

Isobel qualified as a physiotherapist from the Royal Orthopaedic School of Physiotherapy, Birmingham, in 1992. She worked at at Birmingham, Warwick and Redditch NHS hospitals before moving to Cheltenham General in 1997, taking on the role as senior physiotherapist in sports injuries and rehabilitation. Isobel moved into private practice in 2000, also being the physiotherapist for Stow-on-the-Wold rugby club for 5 years. Isobel joined our team of physiotherapists in 2007.

Massage Therapist

Will Johnson Coleman, Massage Therapist

Will is a Soft Tissue Therapist, he trained at the Oxford School of Sports Massage graduating with a BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy. Since graduating he has worked in a clinic in Oxfordshire He has since returned to the School to take extra courses in taping and strapping. Additionally completing a BSc in Sports Health Studies from the University of Gloucestershire and short courses in myofascial cupping and dry needling.

 

Will worked as a student therapist with London Irish and has since worked with Oxford University RFC in their lead up to Varsity. Additionally, he has worked with local rugby and cricket clubs in Oxford carrying out sports massage. He has experience working in gyms as a fitness instructor ensuring technique and execution of exercises for clients is always a priority. He has gained experience working with a range of clients from sedentary desk based jobs to competitive athletes.

Our reception team are on hand to help, either in person, on the phone or via email

They are well trained to ensure they find the best practitioner for your needs, so they  will  ask for  brief explanation of your problem. Sometimes you need to see both a Physiotherapist and a Podiatrist, our reception team can help you decide which to see first.


They are also very skilful at having a natter and catch up with our patients who need some company and support.
